Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf announced on Tuesday that the United States will extend travel restrictions (in place since March), at the Canadian and Mexican borders, until July 21, 2020.
Essential travel is permitted, while travel for tourism and recreation continues to be prohibited due to the Coronavirus.
Secretary Wolf stated “Based on the success of the existing restrictions and the emergence of additional global COVID-19 hotspots, the Department will continue to limit non-essential travel at our land ports of entry with Canada and Mexico.”
Americans who are returning to the U.S. are exempt from the border closures.
