Federal Government Declares Teachers “Essential Workers”

The Federal government has declared that teachers are now considered essential workers. The decision was announced by Vice President Mike Pence, last week, who explained that under the Department of Homeland Security guidance, teachers are now considered “critical infrastructure workers,” subject to the same advisories as other occupations carrying the same label (i.e. doctors, law enforcement officers, etc.) One of the more notable aspects of essential workers, is their clearance to continue work even after exposure to a confirmed Covid-19 case (provided they’re asymptomatic).
