DOT Announces Limited Drug-Test Waiver for Commercial Drivers

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a limited drug-testing waiver for commercial drivers. The waiver (announced June 5, 2020 and in place until September 30, 2020) is designed to provide regulatory relief for pre-employment drug testing for furloughed drivers. Typically, any driver who has been out of the random testing pool for 30 days is subject to a test. This waiver pushes the period to 90 days.
